Poem about a day in the park for a contest
Day in the Park

Young children run circles on top wet, green grass,
Babies grasp strings holding red, restless balloons,
And teenagers’ laughter fills the air’s mass.

Wrinkled men discuss politics on sand dunes,
Roller-skaters and bicyclers zoom past walkers on paths,
And couples kiss and plan future afternoons.

Labradors rapidly dig to discover great fortune,
Blue jays congregate puddles to join in baths,
And, asocial thinkers seek truth at times inopportune
