Freedom is just an illusion...
Illegal Immigration:  A Room Without a View
by Terri Lynn Cummings

Off to bed I go to slumber
Though my thoughts o'erwhelm my mind.
I pray my heart will slow its thunder
While fear’s memories now rewind.

But a caged mind cries in nightmare dreams
And vast fear springs unknown.
Till the current ends and falling screams
Are rocked by breathless groan.

I dream myself in plain day’s sighting
Though my dear ones stay behind.
Thankful for my low wage striving
While dread’s law may yet arise.

If a made-up freedom lures me to a home
Where dark winds push me around -
Bound to foreign sun where a life’s un-flown
My gifts may never be found.

Thus my wings are clipped and feet are tied
For my life stays hidden true.
Though freedom sits on a distant rise
My room’s without a view.
