Because we all know what it feels like when "fake it 'til you make it" isn't enough.
Sometimes happiness can be the worst lie,
And life can be too far away to mantain.
But sometimes, it seems, you must smile or die.

A kind word can give heart, even as you cry
And eager lips can mask the tone of pain
Sometimes happiness can be the worst lie

When your soul is raw, and your manner wry
Other people will always seem inane
But sometimes, it seems, you must smile or die.

Laughs give false hope you can never apply
And every effort you make will seem in vain
Sometimes happiness can be the worst lie

Of what people expect of me, my mouth runs dry,
The pressure would drive anyone insane
But sometimes, it seems, you must smile or die.

Often all I want to do is say goodbye—
I loathe all the thoughts I must entertain!
Sometimes happiness can be the worst lie,
But sometimes, it seems, you must smile or die.
