Downfall of royalty and it's pawns. Written in lyrical format in 20mins as a challenge.
Sparked eyes, strained fingers,
Putting your troops in their places,
Memorised moves running through your brain,
You can't lose, can't handle that shame,
Everything set, ready to go,
Hands moving to the buzzer in slow-mo,
Surroundings kept out of focus,
Eyes of your opponent hungry but cautious.

Slam, and it begins, paranoia buzzing,
Pawns for the slaughter, anything to protect the king.

Sweat drops down from your face,
Suffered losses, but there's no turning back,
Thinking 4 moves ahead, opponent flustered as you take another,
Knight lay down in his grave, The king's frozen, laying vulnerable,
Check. But you've floundered,
Moves unseen, the queen's been murdered
Half your kingdom taken, he's in the throne room,
Check mate and your done for.

Slam, and it begins, paranoia buzzing,
lambs for the slaughter, I'd do anything to protect the king now.

Slam, and it begins, paranoia running through your veins,
You have been slaughtered, there's no way to protect your king.
