from the eyes of a brokenhearted man ....written for the Two in One Poetry Contest
Slowly, I sip the tangy liquid that I had been drinking all night.
It feels good, too good.
Between sobs, I reminisce on her beauty.
Right now, I see her in a light pink dress.
Her brown hair coated her shoulders nicely.
Her crystal blue eyes shined through my soul.
She was the love of my life.

I go to the side of my bed and sit down.
I look into the scariest eyes that I have ever seen.
Instead of blue eyes, they were demon red.
Her hair was in every direction on top of her head.
Wrinkles devoured her face.
She was angry and motioned me towards her.

I reached for her as I dropped the bottle.
Glass shattered everywhere.
As she backed up to the balcony,
I followed her.

As she started to fade away,
I screamed as loud as I could.
I felt a shiver pass through my whole body.
Suddenly, her image turned into a man.
He looked dark and mysterious as he said,
"It is time".

I looked at him in bewilderment.
His eyes had the same worn feeling that my heart did.
I take one step closer to him and feel like he understood.
At the same time, we both breathe.
I feel him enter my body.
As I fall to my death,
I whisper,
"Sylvia".
