Feeling of regret, and foolishness for the loss of a love that was too perfect to end.
Looking back I feel as if I should have known

As the moonlight glistened off the rain soaked pavement

This would be where he would break my heart.

But I couldn’t have known.

I knew nothing but that it was now his laughter flowing through my veins,

That kept my heart a beat.

I knew nothing but that our souls had searched for one another

And could finally rest.

I knew nothing of what was to come.

But looking back I feel as if I should have known

As the violet petals just began to fall from the trees

That my dreams would crash right there beside them.

But I knew not of that.

I was yet to know this jagged edged blade.

I was yet to know the burn of Hell’s flame.

I knew only of bliss.

Sweet, blind and intense…

Bliss.

It was all he let me know.

Yes, I could not have known.
