A romantic poem I wrote to present in Speech class.
I am deprived of many sleepless nights,
nights spent on hopeless romantic dreams.
Though I try to tell my heart different,
         your name it still screams.

I long for the heat of your touch,
and the spark of a passionate kiss.
This desire is slowly killing me inside,
is it physically possible, this ardent miss?

I lay here in the dark, deep in thought,
wondering if you have the same inclination as I.
How do I know if this love is indeed true,
or if what you tell me is a lie?

The passion I hold for you tears me,
for I not only don't know if you share it,
I realize that in order to find out,
I may never receive the chance to elicit.

Although this can be perceived as sudden and unreal,
we fell in love with each other in an instance.
We were meant to be together,
         despite our excruciating distance.

Not a minute goes by I haven't thought of you,
not a day has passed we haven't spoke.
I know I want to spend my life with you,
even if we are always broke.

I would sacrifice all I know and love,
if it means I'll be with you.
You opened new feelings within me,
         whose existence I never knew.

Blood pools in my cheeks and I grow weak at the thought of you,
my heart floats like a cloud disappearing in the skies.
When we talk, I'm forced to hold my stomach,
to prevent it from being carried away with the butterflies.

Today I was asked where I see myself in 10 years,
I would of answered, rich and successful, why?
But I bit my tongue and smiled,
for I could not say a lie.

My whole life the idea was forced,
that marriage and children were just a waste.
My mother wants me to be a lawyer,
so success and wealth would come in a haste.

Truth is, in 10 years, I see myself with you,
happily married with kids, our troubles in the past.
For you are my true first love and if you'll have me,
I only ask that you'll be my last?
