The Pantry
“Mom where is the broom?” I yelled down the hall. “It is in the pantry sweetie,” mom yelled in meaningful but loving tone. I didn’t know why l need the broom but mom said l did and nobody wanted to be on her bad side. I opened the pantry and was frightened my little sister’s enormous stuffed monkey was resting against the door and when l opened it fell on me. Unfortunately mom heard my scream and came rushing down the hall l was really embarrassed.
“It fell off the shelf and caught me by surprise that’s why l screamed,” l said in a frustrated tone. I hated explaining these situations to my mom. Once she had left l reopened the pantry and got the broom and started sweeping the kitchen floor so I could mop it afterwards.
