Song about an untameable young woman using "Where the Wild Things Are" as a reference.
She cannot be friends for very long
If you want to tether the balloon to a boulder
she cries as you try to shackle her
by the shore
she shakes her hair and bangs her fist
and gnashes her terrible teeth

I’m not a maneater but I’ll chew up your heart
if you give it to me and ask me to take a bite
how can I resist
the forbidden apple you offer me
when it’s disguised as friendship?

and she looks at them with her terrible stare
never blinking once, no wonder they compare
her with the sirens, cause she’s wild
has you in her unbreakable grasp
you believe she’s holding you fast
when really she’s just wringing your hand
holding on for dear life
when in reality Max is just a child

She fires her arrows, the one in her side
Is keeping her aim from reaching too high
If she hits you in the heart,
maybe you shouldn’t have taken off your armor
to get a little closer
when she never even asked!

the brittle and frail interior
is protected by the feral exterior
let’s put her on a pedestal
let’s make her our queen
she’d do great bringing life to our conventional ways
even though it would drain
after all, we like her, she’s a wild thing!

And as the foam begins to throw
about her sea-soaked dress
she cries out in protest
cries as you shackle her by the shore
cries for being caught just for reaching for more
she shakes her hair and bangs her fist
and gnashes her terrible teeth
and gnashes her terrible teeth
she is the wildest thing
but she’s wilting underneath

how can I refuse
the forbidden fruit you’ve made me chew
when it’s disguised in the candy caramel layer
of friendship?
