Life back home in the woods.
The little round house sat
Cloaked in woods

Alone and not empty
Fire and smoke
Gingerbread and coffee

Mother dancing with children
Socked feet and hard wood
Long windows weeping snow

Papa with pipe and fiddle
Hard work and scratchy songs

Supper on the table
Forks and spoons
Prayer and thanks

Warm beds and cold breath
Sister whispers
Silly gestures and good nights
