one of my first pieces of poetry, loss of love
Ode to My Vanishing Knight

Where’s the knight you promised to be?
Out searching for imaginary dragons, I see.
Perhaps it is all song and dance,
For where is your sword? - Your lance?
Trapped in a tower- I wait
Suffering from a captured heart- my tragic fate.
Adorned in tarnished gold
It was you I wanted to hold.
But knights are too busy these days
Going on their offward ways.
Years gone by, without a reply
Nursing a broken heart – I mend
Only now, a message you send:
“Slayed the dragon, come to set you free.”
But it is too late, you see-
For I set myself free from this tragedy
And the one now nursing a broken heart
Is not me.
