Inspired by childhood memories
Each ornament had a meaning,
Remembrance of Christmas past,
A symbol of my lost childhood,
Holiday uncommercialized.

Remembrance of Christmas past,
Memories of stringing popcorn,
To go on a living fir tree,
That Grandpa bought on Black Friday.

A symbol of my lost childhood,
Of singing at Christmas service,
Eating Grandma’s homemade fruit cake,
With hot chocolate on Christmas Day.

Holiday uncommercialized,
The meaning of Christmas was clear,
Presents were joyfully given,
Unwrapped with gratitude and love.
