Marionette

You thought you could control me,

But I cut you off

like the tangled strings of a marionette.

Now I'm home free, free to be me.

Deception

A mouth that smiles,

Eyes that lie.

The hidden truth.

Hope

The shrill siren of the

Little girl call

Resonates throughout an empty house,

Devoid of color, light, variety.

Gathering together,

All pieces of one puzzle,

Suddenly strange faces appear,

Penetrating the darkness

With the white that envelops them.

A dark world turns suddenly

Light.

Filling the empty space,

Forcing out the fearful,

Creating hope among despair.

Fear

Trapped.

An empty shell of

The person she once was.

Standing, grimacing,

She accepts the compliments

Flying at her,

The disguised love

That looks like encouragement.

The shell of a girl,

Long gone.

Emptied of joy,

Filled with hate.

Despising the foreign

Person she acquaints

Herself with.

Loving what

She has made her.

Constantly endangered

By the person that

She faces each day

As she looks through

The mirror,

Recognizing someone

Else, a distorted

Image, the skeleton her

Friend encourages.

Invisible to her

Own eyes, seeing

Only the bloated image

Her friend allows her.

Eyes meet,

Piercing green, seeing

Right into her soul.

The monster she

Has succumbed to.

Autumn

Flowing, touched by the wind,

A scarf carried by her gentle caresses.

Floating, floating. Across the sky,

A single ribbon of color,

Extravagant, radiant,

Filled with exuberance at the

Freeing sight.

She is free at last

From all her troubles.

Winning is Everything

Brushing past,

Extending it's tentacles outward,

Consuming whomever is vulnerable.

Inducing pain on the most sensitive,

The one who feels everyone else's pains first.

Why? Why? Why?

Grasping, taking hold,

Discovering the object of its greatest desires.

That shining offering:

The water from the village,

The soul from the child,

The heart from the lamb.

Color seeping from the once

Vibrant image of a young girl.

It claims its prize,

Your sympathy, selflessness, love,

Health, joy. Replaced by doubt,

Self-hatred, anger, desire,

A lost friend.

Depression has won.
