Feelings experienced by a woman during her pregnancy when no heartbeat is found.
Staring blankly to the sky
White clinical blinds before me
Listening with breath held tight

Cold and wet graze my belly
Let there be a sound, let there be a beat
Over and over in my mind

Hope still moving back and forth
My mind and heart pulsating
Quietness within and out remain

Let me hear your melodic resonance
Eyes tightly closed now, silently begging
No whisper of noise, my breath held fixed

Eyes opening slowly, shutters closed fully
Hope fading, sensing your truth innermost
This can’t happen, it can’t be real

Slats blurring before me
There will be no sound
The room is filled with your bellowing silence

Eyes unseeing, devoid of hope
Sadness embraces his truth filled eyes
Overwhelming quiet, room claustrophobic

Hand reaches out, his emotions unspoken
Despair, numbness, oblivion envelop
Alone now I undertake a different journey
