A fantasy conversation between a sufferer and their chronic condition.
I will destroy you; I can attack day or night,
Resist me if you dare, fight as best you might,
I have no mercy, or care for the host I choose,
No friends will care to be in your shoes.

My methods will change to beat you barriers,
Resistance is futile against my warriors,
Who’ll take with impunity,
All trace of your dignity.

I’ll stay near forever, whatever the weather,
As you count up the cost, of the things you have lost,
I’ll expect no reconciliation,
With due regards, your chronic condition.

Dear unwelcome chronic condition ,
I must point out your glaring omission.
You have failed on your mission even before you have started,
And I expect you feel most downhearted.

You can take all the things that you think I find dear,
but you forgot my defences, and that is quite clear,
You’ve renewed my friendships true,
Who help because it is me, and not in spite of its you.

You'll find me a most disagreeable host
Even though you have taken the things I love most,
You’ve strengthened my friendships, honest and true,
I inspire some people I never knew

So I will be a formidable foe,
I'll struggle and wrestle and never let go,
I'll say that each good day and battle each bad,
You’ll find I’lll be the worst host you could ever have had
