A short poem about my favourite person in the office.
Taking note of toilet breaks
Timer holding still
New rules emailed daily
Bending to your will

Nervous in your presence
Eyes upon my back
Watching me and waiting
Planning your attack

Ego growing daily
With power that’s not yours
You think it belongs to you
Transferred behind closed doors

Do you even stop to look
At how your lies have grown
All that others work for
You’ve taken as your own

Acting on authority
You’ve taken and never earned
Whispering your poison
Never expecting to be heard

Nastiness in corridors
Secrets in the hall
Lies and evil half truths
You think will make you tall

Dishonesty will return to you
When you expect it least
Stealing up in the night
No secrets will it keep

Career climbing nastiness
Eventually will end
I will watch you raise your hand
And never find a friend

When your time is over
And the favour starts to wane
All will know that you’re nothing
And your job prospects the same

The world will seem to pass you by
Your protection too far gone
I wonder if you will reflect
On how it could all go wrong

Will you know the evil ways
And see the fault is you
Or will you lie and blame someone
Believing it is true

You’ll probably try to fake it
But no one likes a snitch
One day you’ll come to face the fact
You are the office bitch.
