Poem I wrote thinking, sitting by the fireplace.
Flames dance along the chimney back, thoughts of warmth;
coolness radiates from behind the glass pane.
Memories of chills fade, way of the breath.
Embers crackle—condensation—as cold slain.

Thoughts of winterscapes illuminant desire
as memories of ice form on mountain flanks.
Distant sunshine fall through shadow—retire.
Vapor mists, intense as temperature flight.

Collect on the window of my humble keep
Fire lights dance, song cries of a battle hymn,
radiate ambient heat through vaulted steep.
Sit here, in a throne of solemn.

The keep, the battle season and for what reason;
changing times, ways false, truthful sayings of treason.
