You Dance
Written by Jan Lyons

As you close your eyes
As you will your mind to become still
As you go through every step,
perfectly placed,
perfectly executed,
from one elegant motion to another.

As your body flows with effortless
movement of sheer grace and beauty
As you imagine the rays of the sun spilling over you,
As you’re lifted on wings unseen.

As you strive to give the appearance of being
as fluid as water,
as muscles contract and give you the power of lightning,
the strength of the wind,
with every point of your toes ,
every flawless twirl,
every extension of your limbs.

For those who are innately driven to express themselves through dance,
whose lives are incomplete,
experience a death of their soul when unable to perform.
For them, there is no greater expression of their passion,
without ever having to utter a single word,
It only reveals itself,
only becomes apparent,
As you take the stage
And the audience watches you dance
