A lesson learned from a video game.
There is this thing called Parachutes,
a cool computer game;
yet after playing it for years
I’ve never been the same.

When you are high above the Earth,
you jump out of your plane,
then open up your parachute
and fall to Earth like rain.

But going down is not to be
an uneventful trip;
for there are things within the sky
to make you bite your lip.

An F-16 comes streaking by--
within the air it’s king;
so you pull on your parachute
so not to catch its wing.

A helicopter then is seen,
and it is not as fast;
but still you have to genuflect
so you can drift on past.

And even though it’s pretty low,
a satellite is there;
again you have to use your wit
as if you were Voltaire.

Then just when you think all is calm,
with no more to disrupt,
there comes a house buoyed by balloons,
and it is going Up!

It seems as if the kitchen sink
would even be deployed;
look out, here comes a flock of geese--
a honking, to avoid.

So after playing Parachutes,
this is what I have found:
to walk this life with happy feet,
just keep them on the ground.
