A free verse poem with a warning

Searching for my last memory
I try to remember when,
How long ago.

So I count on my fingers.
I need my other hand—
Not enough hands
To count the years it's been.

How could I've done this?
But I did this to myself;
I let the years go on by
Without a memory to recall.

Now I'm gray,
No longer prime.
What can i do,
But plead, don't let this be you.
