The kids build a spaceship.
The children of the neighborhood
became quite bored with child’s pace.
So they set out to build a ship
to take them into outer space.

To have a working gyroscope,
they used a Huffy Wagon wheel.
Although it didn’t measure up,
it nonetheless maintained appeal.

They rummaged ‘round in yard and lot
to build a capsule they could ride.
They used some cardboard for a door
so they could all crawl up inside.

They took the power they could find
within the port of their command.
Exhaust of Chevy to take off,
and Toro thrust by which to land.

Their navigation panel showed
how ingenuity has tricks.
For dials they used paper plates,
for levers they used ice cream sticks.

But due to costly overruns,
their ship sits idle, just half-made.
And so to get to outer space,
they now sell curbside lemonade.
