Clothes unmake the man.
Though Spike always dressed in Goth,
this day the raiment would be plaid;
and so he donned the checked cloth,
but when he did, he cried, “Egad!”

Lance, the dad, encouraged Spike:
“Son, I know just how you feel.”
“Although you have intense dislike,
you need to have resolve of steel!”

“You want me to be versatile?”
Spike eyed his father with contempt.
“I might as well cry, Zieg Heil,
in this fascist dress attempt!”

“If you wear plaid today,” said Lance,
I’ll give you this medallion, son.
C’mon, and give it just one chance;
and look, you’ll be the only one!”

So Spike wore plaid and walked the street,
but had to fend off one attack;
when he got home, he gave Lance heat,
and then changed into basic black.
