About a beautiful wolf...
The Lone Wolf.

Up on the mountain,
I’m all alone,
I never anticipated any danger this morn.

But a creature magnificent stalks the highland,
I’m stunned by his beauty,
though terrified by his violence.

His coat is thick and grey,
hanging heavy as he hunts,
and he searches for his prey.

And as his head cocks to one side,
his gaze pierces mine,
his crystal blue stare becomes fixated on my eyes.

At this moment I have realised,
that I’m probably the feast he was hoping to find,
I watch as he growls and his mouth opens startlingly wide.

I cannot run,
nor can I hide,
So I wait for my life to flash before my eyes.

I think it’s the end,
as he launches for flight,
it’s only a dream, I try to pretend.

I’m in wait for the lethal attack,
I hear a rip of flesh but its not my own,
and all I feel is a tail brush against my back.

I pluck up the courage to take a quick look,
behind me he has taken down a creature so fierce,
the attack, the scene of fight, resembles an image from a mythical storybook.

Has he?
The magnifect wolf, taken down the mountain lion,
to protect me?

As the lion makes its dying sound,
the wolf’s tucks into his feast,
and when he’s finished he turns around, and sits beside me, contented, on the ground.
