Missing a dear friend
An Ode to Jesse Moore

Jesse Moore was a very odd fellow, but he was mine to know, love and grow old together
But, alas that was not to be because Jesse Moore died you see

Jesse Moore went off to war when he was just a little boy
But not because he wanted to, but because he was drafted when Uncle Sam said "I want you!"

Jesse Moore, before the war was tall and lanky and quite a dashing young man
But the war in Viet Nam changed him and stopped his growth and maturity

Jesse Moore spent fifty years hating his life hating and what he had become
But he never knew that somehow while he wasn't watching they had won

Jesse Moore fought for his Country with gun and pen
But he could not win his on war that he often fought from within

Jesse Moore was always my best friend
But because of the enemy within we could never be more than just friends

Jesse Moore has died and moved on
But I seem to be stuck just where he left me when he came home

Jesse Moore is now just an old sweet song
But heaven knows I miss him in my empty arms
