Unrelentingly empty-hearted
HONORABLE MENTION in THE TRADITIONAL POETRY CONTEST by SHERRI GIBSON , July 2012

I am slowly perishing
My precious time … flying,
My strength is vanishing
And my will … dying.

I wish I could change moments
Smiles, events and decisions,
I wish I understood the elements
To modify, affect resolutions.

I am slowly losing
Love, happiness and trust,
My heart is shrinking
It might disappear; like dust.

Why is it that what we want
Is not always ours to keep?
I wish I were a clairvoyant
To know he was a miskeep.

I have slowly found myself
Together but unwanted,
Together but non self
Unrelentingly empty-hearted.

I asked but there was emptiness
I insisted but only ... promises,
I suppose it is meaningless
I am slowly becoming ... blankness.
