a poem i wrote for a contest and decided not to enter...
No Good deed goes unpunished,
Just ask the saint who was famished.
He gave it all away,
Now his blanket’s a pile of hay.

53 years later,
His life Is a hater
His wife has left him.
He’s all alone,
Nothings left for him.

4 years passed,
He’s a pickpocket
All he has left is a locket.
With a picture of his kid,
It doesn’t even have a lid.
He wears it on a shoestring.

Another year goes by,
He’s in prison,
The warden took his locket,
He sees no meaning in life anymore.
He’s helped everyone all his life,
Now it’s time to go
To this he said “I know”
As the good lord opened the pearly gates
The man said “why me good lord.
I’ve nothing left, I’m just a shadow.”
The lord looked down at him and replied,
With a smile on his face.
“I know and that’s why.
No good deeds go unpunished,
You’ve earned a rest,
You’re one of my best.
And im glad you’re here today.
Never again will you sleep in hay.
You my son will sleep by me.”
