A poem of loss.
My Heart

A cold wind blows through the marshy grasses

My heart remains still.

A lone gull cries above the mournful waves

My heart remains still.

Geese are driven south upon the wings of a storm

My heart remains still.

The sails strain against the mast as the boat puts to sea

My heart remains still.

I pull my jacket close against the bite of the wind

My heart remains still.

Salty spray stings my eyes my eyes as I watch the boat leave

My heart remains still.

A gust of wind tears your letter from my feeble hands

My heart remains still.

The sails fade into the sea with the last light of day

My heart remains still.

A single tear glides down my cheek, and you are gone forever.

My heart will never beat again.
