Taken from a novel I am writing, depicting a memory of losing a loved one.
I can still hear your screams... in my dreams. The sound draws, emotion-- welled, in the deepest darkest part of me. My judgment call.
I still feel, I cannot sleep, until I hear you sleeping. Listen, to your breaths shallow and fall. Every ounce of pain you felt, for my will. You kept alive, against your own.
Was it selfish?
To make you stay?
To beg you live?
When all you wanted to do... was die.
