This knife has not tasted blood for many years.

Bloodthirsty

This knife
Has not
Tasted blood for many years.
They told
Me not to
I listened with both ears.
The sad
And lonely
Truth is that there’s nothing left to stop me now;
But I don’t,
I’ve forgotten how.

If food
And comfort
Are what my body craves,
I know
I must try
My hardest to abstain.
This knife
Seems like it
Is no longer the only way to inflict pain;
So I do,
But it’s not the same.

This weight
Upon
My shoulders is my fate.
These scars
Tell stories
Words could never say.
The past,
The demons
Find me every time I try to run and hide.
I want peace,
But it’s hard to find.

This knife
Will soon find
Its way to blood again.
For blood
Can save me
When nobody else will.
