a short thought
A happy lie drips from the tongue like golden honey
and sweetens your life with its dulcet fiction.
But a sad truth’s taste isn’t nearly as sweet—
it falls with a thud, crushing your illusions.
The divergence is the consequence of each—
the fiction’s effects linger long after the sugar has hardened;
while the illusion is like the morning dew on the grass
light and transitory.
