something growling deep inside
The hunter walks among the blocks
of city lights and damp sidewalks.
He appears to be just a man
without direction or a plan
but growling somewhere deep inside
primal as the sea is wide
Gwen, the puma, waits for release
to feed hunger that'll never cease.
Constant she reminds the hunter
they can't linger here much longer.
Freedoms peace comes at a price;
All this worlds treasures won't suffice.
Lordship of all the kingdoms of men
can't sate the hunger of the wild within.

The hunter, a statue lost in dreams
of running wild like flowing streams.
Where there is room to love and grow
only sky above and earth below.
Understanding all he sees;
He feels as ancient as the breeze.
The puma prancing at his side;
There movements synced in perfect stride.
Reflections of each others heart,
forgetting they were once apart.
No words describe his love for Gwen,
Words mean nothing to the wild within.

To think of this, the hunter sighs
invites sadness to veil his eyes.
Once you've seen the gods grandeur,
you can't return to who you were.
Surrounded by a faceless mob,
he imitates, but knows it's flawed
to live and die wholly confined
in cages build to tie and bind
like wood to fuel the endless plight
wrought by greeds coercive might,
because cages can not hold it in,
the passion of the wild within.
