A young girl's grief leads to death.
Once upon a time, Mama said, “You’re my angel, Annie.” I’d giggle when Daddy tickled my freckled nose and say, “I love you, Princess.”

That was before Daddy died and Mama went silent, drowning her sorrow with booze. I dealt with my pain in quiet desperation and cut myself.

Then one day I pulled the blade across my pale wrists. Now ... blurry spheres flutter around me seeking the Light; my soul withers in spiritual darkness, forever trapped.

I plead for freedom, but shadowy figures deny me impunity as I gaze down upon Mama, who’s draped herself over my closed coffin.
