I was on a short trip and these are some of the things that I observed.
The road goes on for eternity
Blue skies high above me
Fields of green and gold
Stripped of beauty and life
Trees cry out to the wilderness
Whispering in gentle waves of surrender

The road does not hesitate
It goes on and on
Not stopping to admire the landscape
and its many wondrous splendors
Signs clutter the roadside
Grotesque they stand
Cutting through the feeble forest
Stopping the circle of life
In its tracks

Mockery made of mother Earth
as she weeps for love lost
Billboards of nothingness fester
On the vast empty highway
Ingesting every ounce of dignity
Remaining in her broken heart
