This is a poem about finding strength and hope after tragedy.
Silent No Longer

In dreams I see the fire,
Its hellish flames rising still higher
Consuming and burning a personal empire
Such destruction leaving nothing more to desire.

Scars I know that will never heal
Remain like memories; can I no longer feel?
Living has lost its fervor and its zeal.

The dragon's breath though hot, did chill.
Claws enveloped me, their intent: to kill.
A battle ensued, the power-starved had a void to fill.
I prayed for death after it fed me a fatal pill.

My eyes closed all on their own
For fear those teeth would rip through my bones.
Tears slipped and pride fell ... I was truly alone.

I woke up, the past forever on my mind,
And that night, a vow I signed,
And there, within myself, my weapon I did find.

My dragon I fought, faced it to conquer,
For never again, I'll be silent no longer.

In dreams I can still see the fire ...
