A memoriam to the greatest runner of our era.
Prefontaine

A moment fleeting, powerful in stance,
forgotten to forevermore,
even for the man himself.
The man, he runs, runs over all.

The moment strong in faith,
no faltering spirit.
A spirit sublime, a power ethereal.
Longer, beyond, left all behind, inclined press on.

Moments gather, spread out far beyond
a starry sky or windswept shore,
footprints remain, transient and permanent,
something none explains.

A moment to run! Run! Run tough,
hard, fast, fleet - not for grace or time or place,
or for anyone beyond one's tightest neighbor.
Run along, now. Run along.
