This is a sad time of year for Christmas Trees...
CHRISTMAS TREE

They were lovingly selected
By glittering eyes,
Adorned with jewels
And surrounded by gifts.

They lit up the room;
An emerald lighthouse
Guiding the way
For squeals of joy and delight.

In December we sang them songs
Of Adoration!
Come January,
Mock their flaking limbs.

Now discarded in the street,
Unwanted, pathetic.
Bundled bluntly in a black bag
For the bin men to collect.
