Do not spend too much time in the rear view mirror.

Puzzles in a million pieces

lay scattered in the silence

the rear view mirror magnifies

their significance

casting distorted images

on the blank pages.

of unblemished moments.

In the dark room of our damaged soul

shadows taunt-memories haunt

seismic rumbles on the Richter scale

idle at the intersection of our future.

That puzzle can't be cauterized

it bled out, it must be buried

in fields that foster soft goodbyes

in the telltale tears of hope.

A collage of life's new challenges

will be waiting in the wings

once we step into the sunlight

leave behind all broken things.
