Let's play ball!
After a patriotic introduction,
The Bronx Bombers take the field.
With the crack of the bat, the game begins.

The smell of hotdogs permeates the air
While vendors dressed in yellow push their peanuts and cracker jacks.
Excited spectators sport their team colors,
Laughing and temporarily forgetting their troubles.

A young boy with a glove jubilantly catches a foul ball
While his father takes it in, trying hard not to spill his beer.
An outfielder makes a diving catch,
And the crowd cheers its appreciation.

The seventh inning stretch brings a short reprieve
As rowdy fans try to sober up for the drive home.
Peanut shells litter the stands
And the excited chatter from the crowd becomes a restless sigh.

Bottom of the ninth
The score is tied, Jeter up to bat with one out
Hopes of a double play are rampant in the pitcher's head.
The bat connects with the ball, and the entire stadium holds its breath.
The ball goes back...
                             back...
                                       back...
Homerun!
