A poem about my friend who took his own life.
Josh must have been
a celestial being,
coming into my life
when I needed him most.

I'm sure if you looked closely,
past his piercing blue eyes,
heart of gold
and muscular physique,
you could see wings
adorning his back.

He tried to lift my broken spirit,
but I held fast to my
misery and despair.
He wanted me to see
the joyous beauties
and wonders of life.
But I refused to look.

Josh tried to save me,
but I wouldn't let him.
I didn't want to be saved;
I wanted to be loved.

After we parted,
I finally realized
that he did save me.
But I can't thank him.

Because in the end,
I couldn't save him.
