From Flames to Ashes

What started out
as a spark between us
grew in intensity
when our flames diverged
roaring higher
with each beat of our hearts.

We were soon engulfed
in an impenetrable
wall of flames
so furious and ferocious
we were scorched
and suffocated
caught in a path of destruction
caused by our burning love.

The flames quickly
turned to embers
and now they are ashes
nothing left to reignite
the blackened memories
of our love.
