A freshman is lost in the first week of class.
High school

Dank, humid, moldy locker room
The stench of a hundred athletes
Changing after a tiresome game

A freshman lurks in the corner
Fear brought onto him
As thoughts of towel snaps and cheap cologne
Are embedded into his mind

He moves in for a closer peek
The rituals of a varsity team
The chant their songs of victory

He was spotted
He ran
All he could do is run

He runs through the gym doors
Anxiety overcomes him

Into a locker
He crams himself in
Thinking of sanctuary
That holds within
