She emerged from her cocoon.
She emerged from her cocoon.
Metamorphosis of wing.
Arriving none too soon,
novel butterfly of spring.

She accepted winter’s pause.
Spun within cocoon for sleep.
Change her basic cause,
colored wings now hers to keep.

She detected chill of fall.
Caterpillar in a tree.
Heeding nature’s call,
knowing in time she’d be free.

She abided summer heat.
Maple leaf a budding hood.
Lithe with tiny feet,
resident of verdant wood.

Fly away now butterfly.
Your transformation done.
Flash of color in the sky
beneath the springtime sun.

She rose to fly anew.
Changing from some other thing.
Existence now her due,
novel butterfly of spring.
