A memory, although painful it still enlightens my heart.
A young man stood upon a small hill.
A look of sadness tested his iron will.
He knelt beside a tiny mound of green grass.
There a marble marker of a very young lass.

It reminded his softened heart that she was here.
He forced a smile to mask his deep down fear.
A small locket was entwined around the stone.
His memories of her ensured that he was no longer alone.

Grapevines were entangled among silver maple trees.
The man cast a golden prayer into the warm breeze.
He placed a loving hand upon the mound.
His goodbye to his daughter made no sound.
