A hard goodbye
Coping

Duty calls.
Time to repay
my debt to her.
I am not ready.

My numbed mind
cannot wrap around
her fragile form
in a railed bed--

Existing

Hold tight to emotions.
No tears, no anger,
only the fear
of a little girl.

Witnessing
slow death.
She suffers quietly--

Alone

Protecting her girls,
she locks us out,
pushes us away--

Mom
