WRITTEN FOR Lexi's Poetry Challage

SPIRIT RUSH

I wake to the sounds of birds outside my window,
singing a song of praise, so cheerful and uplifting.
I look out and see the morning sunrise, beckoning
me to shake off the night dreams to greet the day.

The world is peaceful now and I feel the spirit rush
as I pause to thank God silently for another morning,
for another chance to live my life to the fullest, without
the intense pain that comes with every day and night.

The doctor has determined that there is no hope for me,
that the cancer has spread too far, he orders painkillers.
Yet the pain lingers, eased only by my faith that comes,
the spirit rush that comforts my soul, I continue to fight.

I walk out into the garden, soak in the beauty of flowers
that I planted long ago, now leaving the cares to God.
I am at peace, there is my hope of leaving the world
a better place, praying that those I love remember me.

who faced the end with courage, love and faith.
