A poem of hope following the Boston Bombing

Yellow balloons on a string
Brighten the day in the early spring.
Yellow balloons of hope and cheer
A happy color in a sky so clear.

Instant pain, and deafening blast.
What force of evil rears it's head at last?
What demon springs from among the crowd
With deadly shards and a voice so loud?

Flames and smoke billowed above the screams
As the world watched the shattered dreams
Of hope and love for which we mustered
Fans, friends and family on sidewalks clustered.

Help came swift the angels were near.
I watched with pride as I shed a tear.
As many rushed into the fray
Our Patriot pride ruled the day.

Above it all three balloons sailed on
With colors of hope for the day to dawn
When evil, madness, and hatred end
When together in friendship our wounds will mend.
