First draft written 4/35/2013
Can you imagine
Sitting in a cell..
Facing life?
Or Death?

The cold steel of judgement
Cast by 12 of your peers

For those
Whose freedom was
Wrongly cut short
Because a scared
Eyewitness
Who truly believed
With every inch of his soul
That #4
Was the masked man
Who rattled his cage of
Security

To emerge vindicated?
For the truth
To finally be told

Everybody
Is innocent in prison;
Especially
Those who actually are

For a man to emerge
And feel the air on his face
Feel the sun on his skin
Is powerful;

But to do so
Without contempt
With warmth
In his heart
With compassion
For his captors,
Is a kind of peace

I hope,

All of us
Will one day know.
