a poem about a fearful entity
Footsteps echo down the hall

I cringe in fearful hate

Fiery figures cover the wall

Nothing left to do but wait

A large shadow blocks the firelight

I take a step further in

A clawed figure, black as night

Carries on its face a frightening grin

He blocks the path of my escape

I have nowhere to go

My fear of him reveals its shape

He doesn't know I know

I reach forth my hand to touch his face

He flinches visibly

I cackle even as my heart does race

I wait for him to flee

He runs away in apparent fear

I have to laugh again

No one can withstand my stare

I allow myself a grin
