A question that many people dont take the time to think about
What are you fighting for?
For me
For my dreams
For all the things I feel
And all the things I subtly ignore
For the boy too scared
To leave his house
To the baby girl
Who all but died in vain
For the first fresh
Breathes of innocents
To the shaky last breathes
Of eyes that have seen much
All too much
They say ignorance is bliss
But how so
How so when now your good;
friend lies dead in a street
In a river of blood
When your sister may never be the same
So ask yourself
What are you fighting for?
Is it your mother,
Your father,
Sister,
Brother,
For your hurting friend
Or even just to see;
someone open their eyes again
See I know what I’m fighting for
I’m fighting for me
For my dysfunctional family
My crazy friend
My little neighborhood
I’m fighting not just for me
But those too young to understand,
Or those who don’t want to understand
For them
For me
This life
Now ask yourself
What are you fighting for?
