A branch of a research company finds a new way to fight the negative effects of entropy.
"Entropy. The output always consists of less energy than the input;"
The Entologist droned on about facts that everyone in the room probably
already knew. Especially me. I mean, after 6 years in this profession
you'd think I knew what to do and how to do it. But every year we have
to retake this week-long course.

I understand where they come from, though. If we make one mistake it
could mean possible unstable circumstances for all life, as well as the
universe.

"... and everything as we know it. I'll see you tomorrow." The specialist
(finally) let us leave. Just as most of the people in the small, cramped
storage room, were evacuating, he called out to everyone. "Don't forget,
the day isn't over yet! Get back to work!"

Like we could forget.

I really question this companies' system. If they have the course for the
people that have forgotten how to do their job, then they let them go back
to work before the course is finished. It's like suicide.

Everyone crammed their way outside of the white room, almost like
animals. Then, I went down the white, sterilized hallway that matches
everything in this place, including the storage room.

Then comes my hallway. Well, our hallway, I don't own it.I have
co-workers, naturally. Everyone in my division walked almost side by side,
like we were in a cult. My group went inside the first room on the left,
abandoning our pack.

We went back to work, just as before, with less slack than usual. Our
representative went to the dry-erase board in the conference area
nearly faster than light.

The false grin on his face became slightly genuine.

Then the presentation began. With everyone in the group there, along with
all of the Administration, I always wondered how he didn't crack from the
pressure.

"How can we slow, or even stop the negative effects of entropy? Wait. We
already did that, didn't we? But there's always more room for improvement."

He circled the bold words on the board with a quick, yellow swipe of a marker.
'Emotional Energy'

"Sure, we have some sufficient ways to combat entropy, but we are
merely slowing it down. Not to mention that is non-renewable. But, if we
use emotions as a source of energy;"

He paced back and forth, giving off an aura of confidence.

"Emotional Energy. If we harness the emotional energy of our fellow
humans, we will have an infinitely effective, and renewable source of energy
to fight entropy."

He smiled. "We can use both the 'positive' emotions;"
He frowned, to correspond with the next half of his statement. "As well as
the 'negative'."

And we began our campaign to 'save the world'.
